Information about Ecopasses in the South Boulder Area.

RTD Neighborhood Eco pass

We are trying to start a new Neighborhood ECO (NECO) pass area in the South Table Mesa neighborhood. We invite you to participate in this program. This is the same as a regional commuter pass which RTD sells for $1620 per person per year. The pass gives you the following benefits:

  • Unlimited travel on all Local, Express, Regional, Call-n-Ride and Light Rail routes, including all routes to Denver and Longmont
  • Unlimited travel on the Boulder's Community Transit Network (the Skip, Hop, Dash, etc.)
  • Free travel on the Ski Bus (route N) to Eldora Mountain Resort
  • Free travel on the Sky Ride bus to Denver International Airport, you will never need to pay for parking at DIA again!
  • The only routes that are not included with the NECO pass program are special services like the Rockies Ride or Broncos Ride.

This program requires an average contribution of $50 per household in this area. If you feel that your usage warrants a higher contribution (regional/daily commuters) we would suggest a contribution of 25% of your normal annual cost. For example, during a typical year, John's household uses the bus system as follows:

PersonType of Pass
Annual Cost of Bus Use
Adult
Occasional local/regional commutes
$325/year
AdultOccasional local/regional commutes
$125/year
StudentLocal bus use
$100/year
Student
Local bus use
$100/year
Total $650/year

So, they could save 75% of the cost of using the bus system by contributing $162/year toward the NECO pass program.

In households where none of the residents currently use the public transportation system, there are still advantages to contributing to the NECO pass program for this area:

  • NECO pass areas are more desirable and increase property values
  • having more public transportation users means less traffic in your neighborhood
  • using public transportation is ecologically sound
  • having the program available may make you more likely to try the excellent public transportation options available in this area
  • it gives you access to free backup transportation if needed
  • For more information about the Neighborhood ECO pass program in Boulder, please see this Go Boulder site.

If you would like to:

please contact John

We would love to be involved!

We would love to get neighborhood ecopasses for our family. We would be willing to help with logistics although I have to say that I am not much of a walk around and talk to people kind of person.
